Engine is a General Electric F414-GE-39E engine.
Maximum speed at high altitude: over Mach 2 (1,333 knots, 2,470 km/h, 1,535 mph).
Maximum speed at 15,200 meters (50,000 feet) of altitude: 2100 km/h (1100 knots, 1,305 mph, Mach 1.7).
JAS 39E is capable of super cruise (over Mach 1 (1,235 km/h, 767 mph, 667 knots) without afterburner).
Internal gun:
Mauser BK-27 27mm single-barrel revolver cannon with 120 rounds.
In 2012 Sweden ordered 60 Gripen E.
In 2013 Brazil ordered 28 Gripen E. Brazil was the first customer to order the two seater Gripen F, 8 units.
September 2021 first public display with Gripen E at an air show in Finland.
In December 2022 the first Gripen E was stated operational in Brazil Air Force according to Saab info.
The software can quickly be adapted to improve survivability in a conflict area.
JAS 39E has networked sensor fusion suite, TAU - link (Tactical Air Unit).
JAS 39E has extensive electronic intelligence (ELINT) signal collection.
