Versions J-29A, B, C and E had Volvo Aero built engine RM2 that was a license built engine De Havilland Ghost 50.
Version J-29F had the engine modified with a Swedish built afterburner, engine called RM2B.

The attack version A-29F could carry 2 x 250kg bombs or 24 Bofors attack rockets.
The J-29F could carry air-to-air rockets.
From the end of 1963 the J-29F could carry 2 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles.
